1.    Purpose of the Seoul Biennale

1)     2010 is a special year that marks the 60^th anniversary of the breakout of the Korean War.  This is the year that calls for a renewed national identity.  We should all look back on the atrocities the nation suffered in the name of war and remember the important lessons it has taught us.  2010 is also the year that Korea will be hosting an international conference for the G-20, which can perhaps be viewed as a testament to Korea’s enhanced status in the international community.

2)     In this special and meaningful year, the Korea Fashion & Culture Association plans to hold the ”2010 International Fashion Art Biennale“ with the goal of further expanding the nation’s scope of international cultural exchanges and to shed new light on Korea’s heightened national prestige as one of the key players in the global economy and international culture.

3)     Fashion art is an expression of the dreams of the mankind as well as its vast imaginations.  It is also an ideal medium for promoting international cultural exchange and good will.  By hosting this biennale, which is based on the theme of “war and peace,” the Korea Fashion & Culture Association wishes to play a part in promoting the image of the global Korea by acting as its main agent for the sharing, coexistence, and peace.
